6 Tips to Get Your Home Holiday Ready
The holiday season is upon is and that means lots of friends and family visiting your home to celebrate and give thanks. Of course with guests coming over, that means major cleaning of our homes to make sure they are holiday ready. No one wants their in-laws to comment on their home so the easiest way to make sure everyone has a happy holidays is to use these 6 tips to get your home in tip-top shape before everyone descends on it.
# 1 Get rid of junk
Everyone has junk drawers, closets, even rooms. Now is the time to clean those out! Anything that is not needed is junk and should either be thrown away or put away for when needed.
#2 Clean your Floors
Wood floors are easier to clean than carpet, that’s for sure. No matter the material, make sure to clean your floors! No one want their guests to have dirty socks. Dirty socks means gossip for the whole year.
#3 Clean the Kitchen
The kitchen is the place everyone will gather. Make sure you scrub your stove, clean out the fridge of old and gross food, clean the countertops, cabinets, and of course mop those floors! No one wants food from a dirty kitchen!
#4 Prep for Guests
Clean out those guest bedrooms and bathrooms. Make sure you change out the sheets and include extra bathroom supplies; clean towels, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, extra pillows and blankets. Make your guests feel welcome, we do want them to leave after the holidays, but we want them to leave so happily.
#5 Give Guests more Control
Change out light fixtures to fan and light combos: Especially in guest rooms, it allows for your guest to control the temperature in their rooms.
#6 Create a Welcoming Entryway
The entrance is where everyone will enter, of course. So make it nice and welcoming for guests. Clear out shoes and any clutter in that area. Add a rug for guests to wipe their shoes on. No one wants dirt coming into their homes. Or better yet have a custom mudroom built!
